Burlap Rose and Paper Potli!

Hello & welcome to The Craft House!!

Today I’m going to share a project that was very impromptu when I first made it.

It so happened that I was at my sister’s place and there I needed to gift silver coins to someone and this meeting and gifting wasn’t planned. I had none my ready boxes or even their templates ready with me so I could build new ones.

But as they say, necessity is the mother of invention. I sat down with few card stock sheets, ribbons & paper knife and this is what I came up with. (oh yes, there were few embellishments, stamps and ink pads too, not to mention, adhesive 😜)

Hope you all like this one…

Dangling Silk & Black Metal

Hi there… Welcome to The Craft House!!

Yes… I’m trying new start line πŸ˜›

So, after so much glue and glitter in my last project, I wanted to do something that would make my hands less grubby. Hahaha.. Less grubby for a crafter is a distant dream 😴

Nevertheless, I was able to think of a project that includes no gums and glues; but there were shreds…lots and lots of πŸ™„

Dangling Silk and black metal… (jewellery with silk thread danglers – in case the title didn’t give it away)

Have a look at these and stay tuned for more!!

Thanks πŸ™‚

Shubh Laabh & Dancing Peacocks!!

Hi there!!

So, the last 30 days of mine were quite occupying; and why not. I had a big project to work on. Bandanwaar (or Toran, as few may call it).

It is a decorative piece of art that we usually put up on the main entrance doors of our houses. However, it being a decorating element, you can hang it anywhere you like and it suits…

This one that I made is a Made-to-Order piece and therefore is a little different from regular bandanwaars. Generally these are rope or fabric based, some are wooden based too. They showcase on them lot of mirror work, mini bells, pearls and rhinestones, etc. What’s common in all designs is anΒ image or sketch of Lord Ganesha – deity of prosperity and well being; and two wordsΒ  – Shubh (meaning auspicious) and Laabh (meaning benefit or gain).

Here, the one that I’ve made is slightly off the traditional lines of style. The base material used is mount board rather than fabric, rope or wood and the decoration is very much in paper. However, the auspicious touches of Shubh-Laabh and Ganesha image have been included.

Hope you like this project; and if you try making one of your own, do share the images and experience.

Thanks πŸ™‚

Meenakari Magic

Hi Folks!!

So weddings are on and I just happen to love this part of year; actually all those parts that host weddings. In fact, I’m a big fan of weddings altogether. I’m sure you know this very well, by now πŸ˜€

I just love them. The color, the gleam and glitter they bring along; the fun and frolics, food, friends and family…okay too many Fs πŸ˜‰

And otherwise being a bit lazy, I also look forward to these occasions, as I get all jazzed up (especially with my kid, these are the only times when I really get to jazz up myself #busymom). Presently, I’m looking forward to one such ceremony in my family in November this year; and look, my preparations have already begun πŸ˜€

Meenakari Magic I call it!!

Its a piece of statement jewelry showcasing the very antique in its origins and yet very relevant in modern times, Meenakari handwork. Glass beads embellished with gold, maroon and green enamels go so well with the oxidized gold finish pendant and jhumka πŸ˜€ Not to forget, the peacock stud heads bring that touch of royalty, don’t they?

Together they make a grand piece and have a grandeur appearance!

Hi Folks!!

Believe you me when I say, it takes two to raise a baby; but it takes 2^n Β to raise an adorable devil like mineΒ 3:)

She is gem of a daughter and is also very good at keeping me engaged and engrossed in her activities all day long, leaving me with very little time and energy to do anything else.

So with whatever time I get, here is a showcase of my recent work..
